Poodle shedding level

2026-01-16 11:31:59 · · #1

On a five-star scale, Poodles shed at most one star, meaning they shed very little. Therefore, daily grooming is unnecessary. If a Poodle suddenly starts shedding excessively, it could be due to molting, an improper diet, or a skin disease or parasite infection.

Poodles shed almost no fur.

Dogs are divided into three categories based on the amount of shedding. Category 1 is given one star or less, indicating that they shed almost no hair; Category 2 is given one to three stars, indicating that they shed occasionally; and Category 3 is given three to five stars, indicating that they shed a lot. Poodles belong to Category 1 dogs.

For dogs like poodles that shed very little, owners don't need to groom their fur every day. Just brushing or trimming their fur periodically will keep them looking beautiful.

If your poodle suddenly starts shedding a lot, it may be entering shedding season. As spring transitions to summer, poodles shed their thick coat to keep themselves cooler. This thick coat will then grow back as autumn transitions to winter.

If a poodle consumes too much salt, or contracts skin diseases or parasites, it will shed a lot of fur. Therefore, poodles should not be fed leftovers, and owners should regularly deworm their dogs and take good care of them.
