A shelter in Texas, USA, recently took in seven abandoned dogs.
One of them was an elderly Labrador named Samson, who was in very poor condition. He had skin disease on his ears and limbs, was covered in fleas, and was in a very bad mood, always looking dejected.
Before taking it for treatment, the staff scanned its microchip as usual, and then they found information about it from ten years ago.
On a whim, the staff contacted its owner from ten years ago and asked if he still remembered Samson.
The owner was shocked. He lost his beloved dog ten years ago and searched for it very hard afterward, but unfortunately he couldn't find it after several years. However, he and his family never forgot Samson and always looked forward to reuniting with him. They never expected that this day would actually come!
The owner immediately drove to the shelter. After ten years apart, he didn't expect the dog to remember him. Seeing Samson's current state, he felt extremely sorry for him.
He walked up to Samson, looked gently into its eyes, and said, "Samson, it's me. Do you remember me?"
Samson, who had been feeling down, seemed to recognize his former owner. He approached his owner, sniffed his hand, and looked very aggrieved.
The owner, holding back tears, said: "We have had so many happy moments taken away from us."
Samson has now transformed from a lively young man into a frail old man, but his owner did not hesitate to take him home, wanting to make up for the love and companionship he had missed over the past ten years.
Ten years is almost a dog's life. It's unclear what Samson went through in those ten years that left him so exhausted, both physically and mentally, that his face no longer showed a smile.
Hopefully, after returning to its long-lost warm home, it will remember being pampered as a child and find smiles and happiness again in that love.
