Many rural families in remote areas choose to work in the city to make a living, and their children, who are often separated from their parents, become very depressed. Only their grandparents and a small dog keep them company and help them through the most difficult and painful times.

Today, Biscuit Mom is sharing a story about a left-behind child named Kaikai. His parents went to work in the city when he was young, and he hasn't seen them for many years. In addition to his grandfather's guidance and companionship, Kaikai also has a good friend named "Little Daredevil," a country dog in the village. Because the dog is very timid, Kaikai gave it this name.

Every day when Kai Kai opens the school gates, he sees Xiao Dan being bullied by the village's big dog. Kai Kai rushes to chase the dog away and says to Xiao Dan, "Don't be afraid, I'm here. Be strong and brave, and don't let that big dog bully you anymore, okay?" Xiao Dan stares at Kai Kai, as if he understands what Kai Kai is saying.

Their relationship has grown better and better, and Xiaodan, the country dog, has become Kaikai's "little follower".

One day, Xiaodan started tearing at Kaikai's trouser leg and ran off in one direction, barking as it ran. Kaikai followed it and saw inside the house that Grandpa had collapsed from carbon monoxide poisoning. They quickly called for help from the villagers, who saved Grandpa's life. From then on, Kaikai was very grateful to the country dog Xiaodan and secretly vowed that no matter where he was, he would protect Xiaodan.

A long time passed and Grandpa passed away. Kai Kai's parents came back and wanted to take Kai Kai to the city to go to school. They said loudly to the country dog, Xiao Dan, "I'm going to take you to the city. Are you happy?" Xiao Dan rubbed its head against Kai Kai to show its happiness.

But things didn't go as they thought. His father disagreed with taking Xiaodan and said, "Dad will buy you a better one when we get to the city. We won't take this puppy." Kaikai refused frantically, but he still couldn't get rid of Xiaodan. On the bus to the city, Xiaodan kept chasing after the bus, and Kaikai kept crying in the bus, begging his parents to let him off.

Once in the city, Kai Kai was listless every day, still worried about Xiao Dan. He called his friend back home, who told him, "The day you left, Xiao Dan felt you didn't want it anymore. It was very sad, and tears welled up in its eyes." Just then, Xiao Dan heard Kai Kai's voice and quickly ran to the phone, barking as if it were talking to Kai Kai. The friend put the receiver to Xiao Dan's ear, and Kai Kai said on the other end of the line, "Xiao Dan, I dreamed about you. You weren't angry with me. Did you dream about me?"

Every weekend after that, Kai Kai would call Xiao Dan. His longing for Xiao Dan, the country dog, caused Kai Kai, who was originally a good student, to have his grades plummet. He became listless and lost his appetite. Seeing their child like this, his parents decided to return to the countryside so that Kai Kai could have a happy childhood. As soon as they got off the bus, Kai Kai ignored his schoolbag and his parents behind him and ran to hug Xiao Dan. Xiao Dan was overjoyed.

And so, Kaikai and Xiaodan returned to their original happy times, and were especially happy to have each other's company. Kaikai's grades also improved, and Xiaodan would wait for Kaikai to come to and from school in the yard every day. They made a promise to be partners who would never be separated for life.

May these two happy little friends be treated kindly by the world and grow up happily!
