How long do snails sleep?

Snails are cold-blooded animals; they don't have a fixed sleep cycle or closed eyelids. Snails are generally more active at night or in dim light, while they become more elusive and quiet during the day or in bright light. In low light conditions, they may enter a dormant state more easily, but this is not sleep in the strict sense.

Snails do not have distinct sleep stages like rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep, which are typical of mammals. They usually alternate between short periods of rest and activity at different times of the day. Therefore, from a biological perspective, we do not strictly define a snail's resting state as "sleeping."

In general, snails do not have a clear sleep pattern like mammals; their resting behavior is more influenced by the surrounding environment and their own physiological needs.
