On February 20, Hangzhou Airport security discovered a female passenger attempting to smuggle a snake through her coat pocket.
At 8:14 a.m. that day, everything was normal at security checkpoint 15 for domestic departures in Terminal 4 of Hangzhou Airport.
Inspector Shen Ke is conducting a body search on a passenger who has passed through security.
When they checked a young girl, she suddenly became very nervous.
Shen Ke became more vigilant and followed procedures to check the passenger's vital areas. When his hand reached into her coat pocket, although the probe did not trigger an alarm, there was an unusual bulge in the pocket.
Shen Ke asked the girl to take out the contents of her pockets for inspection.
Just then, a snake's head suddenly popped out of the other person's pocket, sending chills down one's spine.
It was learned that the girl's surname is Zhang, she is 20 years old, and she took flight 3U3173 to Luzhou that day.
Ms. Zhang claimed that the snake was not venomous and was her pet snake.
The security officer informed the passenger that, according to the Civil Aviation Administration's regulations on prohibiting the carrying of live animals, live snakes are not allowed: "Her friend came and picked them up later."
Bystanders recognized the snake as resembling a California kingsnake: "The normal form of the California kingsnake is similar to the Chinese krait, a highly venomous snake, with alternating black and white rings on its body, and they are about the same size. The difference is that the California kingsnake is non-venomous and is a good entry-level pet."
Reporters learned that since the start of this year's Spring Festival travel rush, Hangzhou Airport security has seized more than 10,000 prohibited items, including controlled knives, fireworks, ignition devices, and household knives. Among these prohibited items are highly concealed items such as eyeglass case lighters, as well as dangerous goods such as the highly toxic pesticide dichlorvos.
