Many people are considering getting a pet, but before doing so, please carefully consider whether you can care for it for its entire life. Do you have the capacity to care for it? Remember, once you have a pet, your every action will affect its entire life! Its life and death will be in your hands! They are living beings, not toys! If you can't do these things, it's better not to get a pet! We must approach life with reverence! Today's story is about an abandoned dog that happened in Nanchong, Sichuan. A woman went downstairs to pick up a package and found a dog lying under a car on the roadside. The dog was a small Alaskan Malamute, not on a leash, and there was no owner nearby. What happened?
The dog was a little afraid of people. The girl called it a few times to get it to come out, but the dog remained unresponsive. So, she went to the courier station and asked the owner if he recognized the dog. What the owner said shocked her! It turned out that a girl had bought the dog online. Seeing that the dog looked sickly, she hadn't bothered to take it to the vet; she had simply abandoned it at the courier station entrance! Hearing this, the girl was a little scared. Could the dog have distemper or something? If it was a "puppy mill" dog, its chances of survival were slim!
The girl really doesn't understand. Why buy a pet online? Doesn't she know the dangers of live animal transport? Many dogs die en route for various reasons! She could have bought from a reputable pet store or adopted one. Why buy a sick dog with uncertain prognosis just to save a little money? The girl checked on the dog again and found it was still limp and weak, with eye discharge and nasal discharge. Since it was midday and very hot, she figured the dog was thirsty, so she bought a bottle of water and poured it into the delivery bag for it to drink.
The dog was incredibly thirsty and drank the entire bottle of water in no time! After finishing, the dog went back under the car. Faced with this situation, the woman felt that leaving it there was tantamount to waiting to die! Waiting for another kind person to rescue it seemed like a long way off! So she decided to rescue it herself! She patiently stayed with the dog for a while, successfully coaxing it into the car, and then took it to a pet store for a checkup.
After the vet examined it for infectious diseases, it was found that it did not have canine distemper or parvovirus. Since the dog was transported live, the length of its journey was unknown, and it had spent another day at the courier station in such hot weather; it was very likely suffering from heatstroke! The girl mistakenly thought it had some other incurable disease and abandoned it! However, after the girl brought the dog home, it started having bloody diarrhea, which terrified her! Although these were symptoms of parvovirus, the vet tests did not detect it. The vet said it might be acute gastroenteritis and could only be treated in this way for now. Since the puppy was only two months old, it was given an IV drip as a precaution, hoping it would pull through!
Later, an X-ray of the puppy revealed bloating in its lungs, raising suspicion of pneumonia! Coupled with its refusal to eat or drink and difficulty breathing, it was given oxygen immediately. The dog is currently under observation and treatment at the hospital, and we hope it pulls through! We are also grateful to the woman who rescued the dog! Finally, we urge everyone: never buy pets online, and never transport live animals! Please adopt instead of buying; these animals are precious lives!
