Ms. Wan, a resident of Wuhan, reported to a reporter from Hubei Economic Television that her pet dog, which she had raised for 10 years, recently underwent surgery at a veterinary hospital, but died suddenly a few days after the operation. Ms. Wan questioned whether the veterinary hospital had failed to provide the promised post-operative care.

Ms. Wan said that she owns an Alaskan Malamute, and on September 12, she discovered that the dog was sick. On September 14, she took the dog to the Wuhan Treatment Center of the United Animal Hospital located on Qingnian Road in Wuhan. At that time, the doctor determined that the dog had a tumor in its body, and it underwent surgery that day. The surgery cost more than 10,000 yuan.

Ms. Wan: "The hospital recommended that the dog stay in the hospital for observation for about 7 days. In order to give the dog better care, the hospital arranged the highest level of first-class nursing care, which cost 400 yuan a night. They said they would check on the dog every two hours."

Ms. Wan said that when she visited the veterinary hospital on September 15th, the dog was in relatively good condition. On the morning of the 16th, she suddenly received a call from the veterinary hospital saying that the dog had deteriorated. Ms. Wan rushed to the hospital and found that the dog had died. Ms. Wan was very saddened, so she checked the hospital's surveillance video.

Ms. Wan: "After the last patrol around midnight that day, no one patrolled anymore until around 9 a.m. when someone came and found that the dog had died."

Ms. Wan believes that the pet hospital's failure to fulfill its nursing promises constitutes a work error.

Ms. Wan: "No one checked on the dog all night, and we completely missed the golden time for rescue, so I can't get over this."

The reporter accompanied Ms. Wan to the Wuhan Treatment Center of United Animal Hospital. Staff members explained that the hospital's diagnosis and surgery were all fine, but there were indeed problems with the nursing care.

According to staff at the Wuhan treatment center of the United Animal Hospital, the hospital did not shy away from the incident afterward and, following notifications from the municipal and district-level agricultural departments, proposed a solution.

A staff member at the Wuhan treatment center of the United Animal Hospital said, "Our solution is to refund the medical expenses of more than 10,000 yuan and find her a dog of the same quality. If she does not agree, we will calculate it at 10,000 yuan and compensate her with another 10,000 yuan."

Ms. Wan disagreed with this proposal.

Ms. Wan: "I asked the hospital to issue an apology statement and a statement of responsibility, but they did not provide a written commitment."

The pet hospital stated that it could not accept Ms. Wan's demands. Both parties indicated they would further negotiate a solution, and if no agreement could be reached, they would resolve the matter through legal channels.
