There are many things dogs cannot eat. For example, chocolate can be fatal, grapes can cause acute kidney failure, onions can lead to hemolytic disease, and macadamia nuts can cause poisoning. Furthermore, never feed dogs milk, as it can irritate their digestive system and cause diarrhea.

Foods dogs can't eat

If a dog eats chocolate, theobromine will accumulate in its body. If the amount reaches a toxic level, it will damage the dog's nervous system and cause death. Eating grapes may cause acute kidney failure in dogs. These symptoms usually appear within 24 to 72 hours, and if the dog is not taken to a veterinarian in time, it can be fatal.

Onions can oxidize a dog's blood, damaging red blood cells and causing hemolysis, which can lead to death. While milk won't poison a dog, it can cause diarrhea because the composition of cow's milk and dog's milk is almost opposite. A dog's digestive system cannot absorb the nutrients in cow's milk, and it will instead irritate the stomach and intestines, causing abdominal pain and diarrhea.

Macadamia nuts should absolutely not be given to dogs, as eating too many can lead to poisoning. Obvious symptoms include trembling, vomiting, and weakness. Furthermore, macadamia nuts can impair a dog's ability to regulate its body temperature, causing persistent fever.
