How to train a Belgian Malinois

2026-01-16 07:13:14 · · #1

When training a Belgian Malinois, first give it a name, then use food to reward it. Each time the Malinois learns a command, review it repeatedly to reinforce its learning. Timely rewards can motivate the Malinois to learn, but it's unnecessary to reward a Malinois that hasn't completed the command.

1. Formation of reflection

The owner needs to give the Malinois a name. By calling its name repeatedly, the Malinois can enter a training state more quickly and form a conditioned reflex to better complete the owner's commands.

2. Food-induced

Like most dogs, Belgian Malinois are greedy and have no resistance to delicious food. During training, owners can hold up food in one hand and guide the dog to do the action with the other hand while giving commands.

3. Practice repeatedly

As the saying goes, "Reviewing the old helps one understand the new," once a Malinois learns a command, it needs to be reviewed every day to deepen its impression. Otherwise, over time, the Malinois will forget the command.

4. Timely rewards

Owners can use rewards to motivate their Malinois's learning enthusiasm. If the Malinois accurately completes a command once, the owner can immediately pet it and give it a small treat as encouragement. If the Malinois doesn't perform well, no reward should be given.
