With the Spring Festival approaching, many pet owners are planning to travel with their dogs and cats. On January 14th, the Provincial Agricultural Development Center issued a reminder: if citizens need to transport their pets by train or plane, they must obtain an animal quarantine certificate in advance.
It is understood that pet owners should apply for quarantine and provide supporting documents to the local animal health supervision agency three days in advance, and are encouraged to use the "PetPass" WeChat mini-program to apply for quarantine. After receiving the quarantine application, the animal health supervision agency will review the materials and decide whether to accept it.
Pet owners whose applications are accepted should bring their dogs or cats to the local animal health supervision agency. An official veterinarian will conduct a clinical examination in accordance with the "Dog Origin Quarantine Regulations" and the "Cat Origin Quarantine Regulations." Reasons should be given for any applications that are not accepted. Pet owners must bring their ID card, transportation information (flight number, train number, etc.), and the pet. If transporting a dog, a valid immunization certificate (valid for 21 days to 1 year after immunization) and the original rabies antibody test report are also required.
It is important to note that the rabies antibody test report must be issued by one of the five testing institutions selected by the Hubei Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. If the quarantine is successful, an official veterinarian will issue an animal quarantine certificate. Pet owners can check the animal quarantine certificate through the "Pet Transport" mini-program. Also, please note the validity period of the animal quarantine certificate: a maximum of 5 days for inter-provincial transport; no more than 24 hours for intra-provincial transport; for international transport, please consult the customs authority at the point of origin for relevant procedures.
