According to reports from China Youth Daily, Southern Metropolis Daily, and other media outlets, on October 26 local time, the world's fattest cat, "Kroshik," suddenly experienced breathing difficulties and ultimately died at a weight-loss camp in Perm, Russia, despite all efforts to save him.

It is understood that the name "Kroshik" comes from its eating habits, meaning it wolfs down all its food. Reports indicate that "Kroshik" previously lived in the basement of a Russian hospital, where it ate only biscuits and soup. After being rescued from the basement, "Kroshik" became a global sensation due to its obese size, with some netizens even comparing it to Garfield the cat.

According to reports, Kroshik weighed a maximum of 38 pounds (approximately 34 catties) and was unable to walk due to its obesity. Later, Kroshik was taken to a specialized veterinary weight loss clinic in Perm, central Russia. The doctors developed an exercise plan for it, including using an underwater treadmill. Through strict dietary intervention and daily exercise, Kroshik successfully lost nearly 7 pounds (approximately 6 catties).

However, Kroshik suddenly passed away on October 26 due to breathing problems. On the 28th, doctors performed a full autopsy on Kroshik and discovered that its spleen was encased in a tumor. Additionally, it had tumors in its lungs. Veterinarians believe these tumors caused its multiple organ failure.

The head of the cat shelter stated, "This cat began experiencing breathing difficulties two days ago and could only lie in the clinic's oxygen room. For the past two hours, we've been trying to help it breathe, even performing aspiration. But ultimately, it didn't make it. We don't yet know the exact cause of death. Because it had lost 3 kilograms, an ultrasound revealed multiple tumors in its spleen, and we cannot rule out the possibility of metastasis to its lungs. It's difficult for us to determine whether its death was due to overweight or tumors. It suffered multiple organ failure, and its body simply couldn't cope. It was incredibly brave. We plan to conduct further examinations to determine the exact cause of death, but that will take another five days."
