Yesterday morning during rush hour, traffic was heavy near the Jinhe Road intersection in Chengdu. A white cat wandered into the traffic, seemingly bewildered. Vehicles sped past it, and it appeared the cat was about to be in danger.

In a critical moment, traffic police officer Liang Jiacai, who was on duty at the intersection, signaled oncoming vehicles to slow down, walked into the traffic, picked up the cat, and safely brought it to the roadside. More than 10 minutes later, the frightened cat ran back into the traffic. To save the cat, Liang Jiacai walked into the traffic again and carried the cat back to the roadside.

This scene was spotted by a passerby, who took a picture and posted it online. Liang Jiacai, who twice stopped cars to save the cat, received praise from netizens and was called a "caring traffic policeman".

A cat wandered into traffic; traffic police stopped the car to rescue it.

Yesterday morning, a netizen named "Brother Trump" posted a message on his WeChat Moments: "This morning on my way to work, at the intersection of Jinhe Road, a cat wandered into the traffic and seemed lost. The traffic police on duty signaled the vehicles to slow down, walked over, picked it up, and took it to the side of the road... Thumbs up for the kind-hearted traffic police!"

The netizen also uploaded seven photos of the scene. These photos vividly depict the situation: there was heavy traffic, and a white cat was crouching in the fast lane in the middle of the road. A traffic policeman in uniform bent down, picked up the cat with both hands, and cars kept passing by him. After looking left and right, the policeman quickly crossed the road to the sidewalk, placed the cat on the sidewalk, and then continued his duty.

When traffic police entered the traffic to rescue the cat, cars in the same lane as the cat stopped and waited. The vehicles only continued to move forward after the traffic police removed the cat from the lane.

The netizen who posted the photos, "Brother Trump," said that he was standing at the intersection waiting to cross the road when he saw the traffic police enter the traffic. "I didn't know what he was going to do until he bent down, and then I realized that he wanted to save a cat on the road. To be honest, I was very touched at the time and felt that the traffic policeman was very kind-hearted."

The traffic police officer involved:

I picked up the cat twice from the traffic.

Subsequently, a reporter from the Chengdu Business Daily contacted the traffic police officer, Liang Jiacai, an auxiliary police officer from the Fourth Traffic Police Division. At the time, he was on duty at the Jinhe Hotel intersection. "While I was on duty at the intersection, I saw a cat run into the traffic, and I haven't seen it come out since," Liang Jiacai said. He explained that the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m., during the morning rush hour, when traffic on Shudu Avenue heading into the city was heavy. When the light turned green, a female driver pulled up to him, saying, "There's a cat that was hit in the back, it's still moving." Upon hearing this, Liang Jiacai quickly ran about 20 meters away and found the cat lying in the middle of the road. "The cat was still moving, there was no blood on it, but it had a small injury on its head."

So, Liang Jiacai signaled to oncoming vehicles to slow down. He walked into the traffic, bent down, picked up the cat with both hands, and quickly crossed the road. When he reached the non-motorized vehicle lane, the cat in his arms jumped to the ground and ran into the roadside bushes. Seeing that the cat was safe and sound, Liang Jiacai returned to his post.

Unexpectedly, more than 10 minutes later, the cat ran into the traffic again. Liang Jiacai said that after the cat ran into the traffic a second time, it was accidentally hit by a taxi. Seeing the cat being hit, Liang Jiacai quickly ran over, signaled to passing vehicles to slow down, picked up the cat again, and led it to the sidewalk. But as soon as he picked up the cat, it scratched him, took the opportunity to break free from his grasp, and ran away in a flash.

Seeing that the cat had safely run onto the sidewalk and that some vehicles were stuck at the intersection, Liang Jiacai quickly returned to his post to direct traffic.

Liang Jiacai said that the cat was in the driveway at the time, and he was worried that the cat might run over a vehicle if it wandered around. At the same time, if the animal ran into the driveway and caused a vehicle to be hit, it might affect the traffic safety of subsequent vehicles. So he immediately entered the driveway and picked up the cat.
