The dog sat shivering in the heavy snow, refusing to leave no matter how much we tried to persuade it. But when it saw what was in our arms, it burst into tears.

In recent years, the number of people keeping pet dogs has been increasing, while the number of stray dogs has also been rising. Many owners do not consider the consequences before getting a dog, and when faced with a series of problems, they simply abandon their dogs on the streets for convenience. The vast majority of these abandoned dogs are not spayed or neutered, making it easy for them to breed with other stray dogs, leading to an ever-growing stray dog population.

While the south is still bathed in sunshine, the north is already blanketed in snow. Winter is especially difficult for stray dogs and cats on the streets, as they have nowhere to take shelter and have to endure hunger and cold every day.

A while ago, a man went out to buy some things and passed by a park where he found a dog sitting in a snowdrift. The dog was shivering from the cold but refused to leave to find a warm place. When the man returned with his purchases, he found the dog still sitting in the same spot, its eyes filled with pity. So the man gave it some hot food he had just bought.

As the man approached the stray dog, he noticed something in its paws and curiously crouched down to investigate. He discovered that the dog was carrying a litter of puppies. Perhaps sensing no ill intent from the man, the stray dog generously allowed him to see its young.

The puppies were only two months old, their fur not yet fully grown, making them vulnerable to the cold. Their mother, having nowhere to shelter from the cold, could only warm them with her own body, refusing to leave them in the heavy snow. Seeing this, the man instantly burst into tears, marveling at how maternal love knows no species. In contrast, the owner who abandoned the puppies suddenly seemed to understand even less about responsibility and commitment than a dog.

Winter is here, and many stray dogs and cats seek shelter under cars to keep warm. We hope that every car owner can do a quick check before driving. These stray pets already have a hard life, and they shouldn't be subjected to further harm.
