Friends who can stand by you through thick and thin are the ones who are truly worth staying with for a lifetime.
Unlike stray cats, stray dogs generally don't like to act alone; instead, they tend to move around in groups. This allows them to look after each other, ensuring that no one goes hungry if one of them fails to find food. This is the cooperation among stray dogs.
Some stray dogs have relationships that go beyond cooperation; they become more dependent on each other. Whether foraging for food or seeking refuge, they will not abandon each other, and their relationship has developed a sense of "home".
These two stray dogs are very good friends. The Chihuahua is named "Jimmy," and it's an older stray dog. The Shar Pei next to it is named "Tivi," and it's much bigger than Jimmy, but it always puts Jimmy first.
If Jimmy and Tivi hadn't met the kind shop owner Rosa, their lives would still be spent on the streets, and they would have become even more miserable as they got older.
Rosa ran a fast food restaurant on the street. She often fed stray dogs that passed by, so every afternoon, some stray dogs would come up to her wagging their tails and begging for food. She never refused any of them, since there was plenty of leftover food from her customers in the restaurant.
Jimmy and Tivi were visiting Rosa's shop for the first time. Seeing the other stray dogs enjoying their food, they ran over to ask Rosa for some as well. This angered another group of stray dogs, who attacked Jimmy and Tivi before Rosa could even give them any food.
Jimmy was quickly bitten by a stray dog; he was no match for the young stray. Luckily, Tivi was there; he rushed over and chased the stray dog away, then stood with Jimmy and stared at the pack of stray dogs.
Rosa intervened and stopped the fight; she didn't want such an unpleasant scene outside her shop. However, Jimmy and Tivi soon returned; they were genuinely hungry and desperately needed the food.
While feeding the two dogs, Rosa noticed something amiss. It turned out that Tivi was a blind stray dog who stayed close to Jimmy, even while eating. Jimmy, meanwhile, wagged his tail at Rosa as he ate, knowing that he would only get more food if Rosa was happy.
Watching the two dogs walk away one after the other, Rosa inexplicably felt the urge to save them. Of course, she was mainly attracted to Tivi, after all, Tivi was a Shar Pei, and very few people would abandon a "precious" Shar Pei.
In the days that followed, Jimmy and Tivi went to Rosa's shop every day for food. They gradually became familiar with Rosa and would often wait outside her shop early in the morning. Jimmy liked to groom Tivi's fur, and especially liked to lick Tivi's eyes. He really cared about Tivi and always treated him like his little brother.
Before Rosa could even plan to adopt the two dogs, a dog rescue organization arrived specifically for Tivi. This organization only rescued Shar Peis and found new homes for every Shar Pei they rescued. However, when they were about to take Tivi away, they discovered that another Chihuahua (Jimmy) also wanted to come along and was behaving particularly excitedly.
The animal welfare organization still hasn't taken Jimmy away; they don't want to rescue dogs other than Shar-Peis. Jimmy will have to be temporarily cared for by Rosa because he's become less active since Tivi left, and even had a seizure.
Tivi was returned to the animal rescue organization a week after being taken away, because it became particularly agitated after being separated from Jimmy. It refused to eat and did not like to interact with other dogs. It often rubbed its front paws against the wall, wanting to go outside.
When Jimmy and Tivi met again, they wagged their tails excitedly and kept licking each other's fur; they were truly happy.
Rosa had always wanted to adopt two dogs, so she brought them home. Her actions also received support from the animal welfare organization, who would provide assistance should the dogs encounter any serious problems in the future.
And so, the two dogs ended up staying together, sharing joys and sorrows, and becoming each other's most cherished companions.
