A pet owner living in a rural area in northern China adopted two stray dogs and would feed them any extra food he had at home.
That morning, the pet owner was sleeping at home when he vaguely heard someone knocking on the door. To be precise, it was scratching at the door, because the pet owner's door was stainless steel, so the scratching sound was particularly jarring.
The scratching at the door continued, and the pet owner, unable to sleep due to the noise, had no choice but to get up and open the door to check.
When she opened the door, a small yellow dog suddenly poked its head out. When the dog saw its owner come out, it quickly ran away and kept its distance from her.
The pet owner tried to figure out why the little yellow dog was scratching at the door, but saw a very small puppy at the door. After looking closely at the puppy, the pet owner realized that the little yellow dog was nursing, and then understood that the puppy was the mother of the other puppy.
Then a heartwarming scene unfolded, leaving the pet owner speechless.
The little yellow dog stood not far from its owner's door, its back to its owner and its puppies, tilting its head as if peeking at its owner, and gently barked at its owner.
This bark made the owner suddenly realize that the mother dog wanted to give her puppies to him. The mother dog's bark, which had a slightly deeper meaning, seemed to be saying goodbye to her puppies, and also seemed to be asking the owner to take good care of them.
The pet owner was stunned by what he saw.
After a bark, the mother dog prepared to leave, but as she left, she kept turning back, her eyes full of reluctance. Just then, the puppy suddenly barked, and the mother dog immediately ran back upon hearing it.
The puppy looked hungry, so the mother dog immediately sat down to nurse it, licking its head as she did so.
The pet owner remained silent throughout, simply standing at the doorway, watching the mother and child perform their separation act. The scene moved the pet owner deeply, yet also brought a pang of sadness.
Because she knew that life was hard for stray dogs, and that this mother dog couldn't have only given birth to one puppy, but only one survived, the mother dog brought the puppy to her home, probably because she was afraid she wouldn't be able to support her only remaining child.
The owner pondered for a moment and then called the puppy and its mother inside. She took out some white rice and fed it to the mother dog and the puppies. The emaciated mother dog only ate two bites before instinctively looking around, seemingly keeping watch for her pups, while the puppies ate with great relish.
Currently, the mother dog and her puppies have been taken in by their owner. The owner says that as long as they have food to eat, they will not let the stray mother and puppies go hungry.
It's truly shocking. Imagine from a pet owner's perspective: early in the morning, a human sees a stray dog mother reluctantly parting from her puppies, simply because the mother is afraid she can't raise them and wants to give them to a pet owner.
Especially when the mother dog entrusts her puppies to her owner, the howl she lets out with her back to the owner is filled with complex emotions: reluctance to part with the puppies, instructions to the owner, and a sense of farewell.
Keep in mind, it was just a tiny stray dog, but the maternal love it displayed in that instant was dazzlingly unbelievable! Fortunately, the outcome was good; the mother dog and her puppies were not separated, and they no longer have to be strays.
