Grandma Cao is over seventy years old and lives in a rented urban village, making a living by scavenging. Due to her disability, Grandma Cao has great difficulty moving around and can only move forward little by little by supporting herself with two small stools.
Ten years ago, she adopted a local dog. The dog was very intelligent and mischievous, but it was very obedient to Grandma Cao.
This year, due to the urban village renovation project, Grandma Cao's place was slated for demolition. Kind-hearted people helped her find a small corner home, but her family refused to let her bring her dog. Left with no other option, Grandma Cao had to leave the dog behind. When the old woman untied the dog's leash, she cried; after all, it was a dog she had raised for ten years, and she had developed a deep affection for it.
Grandma patted the dog's head and said, "Come on, you're free now!"
Grandma Cao was settled into a new home by a kind person, but she always felt empty inside. Sometimes she felt that her dog was right next to her, but when she turned around and looked around, there was nothing there.
Every morning, the dog would come to wake the old man up on time, but as he touched the empty edge of the bed, he wondered where the furry little guy was.
Grandma Cao was very reluctant to leave her dog, so she asked a kind person to take her back to her original home to see it. But as soon as she got to the vicinity, the dog suddenly rushed out of the house like a madman, kissing and licking the old lady, and rubbing its head against her chest and whimpering.
Grandma Cao quickly patted it to comfort it and wiped away its tears. Before she knew it, the old woman couldn't help but cry too.
The old woman went inside and found the dog sleeping on the blanket it had used, simply because the blanket smelled like her grandmother. The dog was always thinking of and longing for her grandmother; it was guarding the home it had once shared with her. Grandma Cao couldn't bear to abandon it again and begged a kind person to take them back to their new home.
The dog was overjoyed to see the familiar furniture and appliances. Although the house had changed, everything still felt familiar. It quickly adapted to its new environment. Grandma also decided that she would never abandon the dog again and would stay with this loyal dog forever.
