A pet owner in China owns a female Labrador Retriever, who is now an adult. The owner lives on the first floor of a residential complex with a small garden outside, and often walks the dog in the complex.
In early February, the dog owner noticed a strange mixed-breed dog following behind them while walking their Labrador. The dog's behavior clearly showed that it was very interested in the Labrador.
After all, the mixed-breed dog and the Labrador are different breeds, and the owner was afraid that the two dogs would mate, so he didn't dare let them get close.
But to the owner's surprise, from that day on, the mixed-breed dog began to pester their Labrador relentlessly, initially just guarding the fence of the small garden.
After a while, the owner couldn't bear it anymore and had to let the mixed-breed dog in, allowing the two dogs to meet through the glass door. The owner even righteously grabbed the mixed-breed dog by the scruff of its neck and told it that the two of them could never be together.
Pet owner: How many times have I told you? You two are different breeds and can't be together, don't you hear me?
Country dog: What a cruel mother-in-law.
Despite being scolded by its owner, the mixed-breed dog did not give up. Starting in early February, it would come to see the Labrador every few days. Over time, the Labrador became very excited to see the mixed-breed dog as well.
The most amazing thing is that the dog actually brought a stool, seemingly wanting to use the stool as a betrothal gift.
The owner sensed something was wrong and secretly decided to let the two dogs see each other one last time, and not to let them meet again if the mixed-breed dog came.
In mid-March of this year, this mixed-breed dog came again. After it arrived, the owner ignored it and didn't let the Labrador see it. The owner originally thought that if the mixed-breed dog didn't see the Labrador, it would leave on its own. But to her surprise, the mixed-breed dog sat at the door and wouldn't leave!
That day, the country dog waited from day to night just to see the Labrador.
Country dog: If you won't let us meet today, I'm not leaving.
After dark, the owner saw that the mixed-breed dog was still there, so she softened and let it into the house, allowing the two dogs to meet.
The two dogs were very affectionate when they met, which made their owner feel both envious and annoyed.
The two dogs are currently on good terms, but the owner can't tell whether their relationship is friendship or love. However, to prevent the Labrador from getting bred, the owner is always present when the two dogs are together. It seems the owner is prepared to be a ruthless mother-in-law.
Pet owner: We can be friends, but definitely not sons-in-law.
The story between these two dogs is really interesting. What do you think? I, for one, smell a hint of romance in the air; it seems the Labrador is quite taken with the mixed-breed dog. But whether dogs can mate is ultimately the owner's decision. What should we do if we encounter a similar situation in the future?
There are essentially only two solutions: "emotional support" and "rational separation." I personally support separation. Firstly, if two dogs of different breeds really get together, they will definitely produce mixed-breed puppies, and a litter can have 5-8 puppies. Mixed-breed puppies are already unwanted, so what will happen to the puppies? Who will raise them? If they can't be given away, will they raise them themselves?
