Mother cat: I feel completely drained. Is this what you humans call "parasites living off their parents"?

With the increasing popularity of pets, their culture has gradually become popular, and cats have become a popular pet in China. Those who have owned cats and dogs know that once these pets start breeding, it's unstoppable. They can have a whole litter of puppies at once, so sometimes we have to admire them. We humans can barely care for one child, let alone so many at once; it must be incredibly frustrating for them.

One netizen's cat gave birth to six kittens, which made the owner incredibly happy. Having so many adorable little ones in the house was naturally a joy. Watching the kittens grow little by little brought the owner immense happiness, and they grew to love them more and more. After all, it's hard not to love your feline overlord's little darlings. So, the owner decided not to sell any of them and to keep them all. Initially, there were no problems, but as the kittens grew, some, which should have been weaned long ago, over-weaned because of their mother's presence.

Perhaps because their owner took good care of them, the kittens quickly grew to be about the same size as their mother. However, these little guys seemed to have a particular fondness for their mother's milk, clearly recognizing it as the best-tasting beverage. The mother cat might barely accept one kitten, but when a whole bunch came, she wondered why she had to eat while the others didn't. Cats are always incredibly curious; if one kitten came, the rest would follow. Because of this, the mother cat was often left helpless, as she would be surrounded and attacked by a whole litter of kittens every time she went out.

However, the mother cat's milk supply is limited, and this feeding pattern isn't sustainable. A group of cat lovers started offering suggestions, but the most popular suggestion was to give the kittens away. As the kittens grow, their teeth start to come in. Just like humans, kittens with milk teeth can injure their mothers when suckling. Therefore, for the health of both the mother cat and the kittens, the kittens need to be weaned. Of course, if the owner doesn't want to give the kittens away, they can separate the mother cat and kittens, which is beneficial for both. Continuing to feed the kittens like this could easily injure the mother cat, and we all know that this can easily lead to infection.

The kittens have no idea that this will drain their mother cat. Even setting aside the risk of wound infection, there's the issue of the mother cat's nutrition. Every animal has limited energy, and their daily nutrient intake is roughly the same. A healthy body requires a balance between intake and expenditure. A mother cat's daily milk production is limited; if the kittens drink it all, or even excessively, the mother cat's body can't handle it. This puts a burden on her health. Previously, some netizens reported that their mother cats died from wound infections because their kittens were oblivious and they weren't paying attention.

Please, all cat owners, take note when you have kittens at home: wean them around the same time each week. Don't let this happen, as it's bad for both the kittens and the mother cat, especially your beloved feline companions. Their health is what truly matters; that way, they'll stay with you for a very long time.
