According to a report by the British newspaper Metro on February 28, a British cat that had been a stray for 14 years was finally reunited with its owner a few weeks ago.
One day in 2007, a tabby cat named Taz jumped out of the bathroom window of her home. Since then, Taz's owner, Mandy, had been searching for her, but without any news. As time passed, Mandy moved away from her home, and the hope of finding Taz grew increasingly slim.
However, just a few weeks ago, Taz appeared on the local Facebook lost and found page. Mandy said she recognized Taz immediately, "It's amazing that Taz is finally back after all these years!"
Taz is now a 15-year-old cat, and it has been fed by local residents for many years. Recently, a kind neighbor noticed that it seemed to have some health problems and took it to an animal rescue center.
Taz was in poor health. It had been a stray on the streets for fourteen years. Irregular eating habits led to oral infections and a sudden drop in weight. The vet performed surgery on its cavities, and volunteers fed it every few hours. With everyone's careful care, Taz regained a healthy weight after a month.
Subsequently, the animal rescue center conducted an assessment for Taz and, after confirming that Taz had no owner, posted its photo on a lost and found pet page. It was there that Mandy found Taz.
Paula, a staff member at the animal rescue center, said, "It's almost a miracle that Mandy was reunited with Taz." She speculated that Taz was a young and healthy kitten when it went missing, so the residents who fed it may have thought it had an owner, which is why no one adopted it.
Now, Mandy has brought Taz home. Although Taz has become more sleepy as she gets older, Mandy sees her no differently than before. She feels very happy to be able to spend her later years with Taz.
