Dogs are very grateful animals; they remember everything that happens to them. Sometimes it might be an unintentional act, but the dog will remember your kindness and repay you someday. Today's story is about a stray dog whose act of gratitude allowed it to find a home. The story begins a few months ago when this stray dog came to a house and was found by the homeowner. The homeowner noticed its belly was a little swollen, making it look pregnant, and out of compassion, gave it some food.
The dog finished eating quickly. The homeowner had no intention of adopting it, as he had never owned a dog before and neither liked nor disliked them. When he saw the dog lingering inside, he unceremoniously chased it out. However, for some reason, the dog stood outside and refused to leave. Perhaps it had received a favor from the homeowner and still held onto a sliver of hope, or perhaps it had nowhere else to go, being pregnant and with nowhere else to go.
The kind homeowner eventually took it in, allowing the dog to roam freely outside, except for not letting it inside the house. At mealtimes, the homeowner would prepare delicious food and leave it outside. This was hundreds of times happier for the dog than its life as a stray; at least it wouldn't go hungry. Seeing the dog's belly getting bigger, the homeowner even built a makeshift shelter out of cardboard boxes, providing shelter from the wind and rain and creating conditions for the dog to give birth to puppies.
Besides the homeowner, neighbors and passersby also noticed it. The dog was quite perceptive; if someone was kind to it, it would wag its tail enthusiastically, quickly developing a strange bond with many people in the neighborhood. Some time passed quickly, and one morning when the homeowner went to feed the dog, they discovered it had successfully given birth to six adorable puppies! The mother dog was very welcoming to those who were kind to her, allowing them to pet the puppies freely. However, she was equally fierce towards those she disliked. For example, when someone rode a motorcycle past, the noise was so loud that the mother dog worried it would disturb the puppies, and she even went over and yelled at them!
What truly made the homeowner feel the mother dog's gratitude was a theft. It was early morning when the mother dog suddenly barked loudly, waking the homeowner. Upon checking, the homeowner discovered a burglar had broken into the house. Fortunately, the dog spotted them in time, preventing significant damage. While thanking the dog, the homeowner also truly felt the need to consider her well-being. Living on the roadside with her puppies couldn't be sustainable, especially with so many puppies; he couldn't possibly care for them all, and they might follow in their mother's footsteps and become strays. So, he contacted a dog welfare organization, and despite the long distance, pleaded with them to come to his village and rescue the dog family.
Touched by the homeowner's sincerity, the rescuers organized a trip to the village. With the homeowner's help, the rescuers successfully brought the mother dog and her six puppies to their vehicle and took them back to the rescue station. A new home and new owners await them. Although it was a little regrettable that the homeowner didn't adopt the dogs, we understand. Because of his help and kindness, the dog family has been able to get to where they are today. They will no longer be stray dogs struggling to survive, but happy and loving pets with a home!
