Xiao Chen, who works and lives alone in a big city, adopted a Golden Retriever last year. The dog was exceptionally obedient and well-behaved, winning Xiao Chen's heart. Xiao Chen often told his grandmother during their phone calls that he wanted to bring the dog back to her house to show her his beloved Golden Retriever. This National Day holiday, Xiao Chen specially took the Golden Retriever with him and drove back to his grandmother's house to visit her. He thought it would be a happy trip home, but it was completely ruined by the "kind" Golden Retriever.



Having just returned to his rural hometown, Xiao Chen, without even unloading his luggage and gifts, rushed into his house to find his grandmother so she could introduce him to his beloved pet dog—a Golden Retriever. In the countryside, the most common breeds are mongrels and pugs; his grandmother, who had lived in the countryside her whole life, had never seen such a tall, handsome Golden Retriever. Looking at its gleaming golden fur and dashing appearance, his grandmother readily admitted she loved it. Watching his grandmother and Golden Retriever playing happily, Xiao Chen felt genuinely proud of his dog. Around noon, while Xiao Chen and his grandmother were having lunch and chatting inside, they suddenly heard a duck's pitiful cry coming from the yard. Xiao Chen thought to himself, "Oh no! It must be the Golden Retriever that's causing trouble!" He rushed to the yard with his grandmother to check. They discovered that the Golden Retriever had seen the duck playing in the water tank and, assuming the unfamiliar creature disliked baths like itself, must be suffering in the water. So, it quickly ran over, grabbed the duck by the neck, and started pulling it out. The startled duck let out a pitiful cry.
