The owner couldn't bear to look at the dog's pleading eyes, so he quickly gave it some food. It was raining that day, and the dog food was soaked in rainwater, but the dog ate it with great relish. This was the first time that Dahei had come into the owner's sight.
But what the owner couldn't forget was Dahei's wary look. It was so timid, as if it had no sense of security at all. When eating dog food, it would take a bite and then immediately look up and look around. If there was any noise, it would run away immediately!
Seeing the dog's frightened expression, the owner knew that this big black dog had a story.
The owner later learned from the cleaning lady in the community that the owner of the big black dog lived in the community, and the dog had been abandoned several years ago. The dog had been a stray in the community for the past few years, living off the charity of others.
Stray dogs inevitably face harassment, so being chased and beaten is common. "Once, the big black dog was beaten downstairs and howled. Its former owner was upstairs, and I don't know if he heard the big black dog howling," these are the aunt's words.
In July 2020, Dahei's tail was injured again. The owner couldn't bear to see it anymore and took Dahei to the vet!
After Dahei recovered from its injuries, its owner adopted it, thinking that Dahei would finally live a good life. But fate seemed determined not to let Dahei go.
The wound on its tail had just healed and the patient had been discharged from the hospital when Dahei contracted parvovirus. Because it was a stray, Dahei was already thin and weak, and the illness struck like a landslide. Dahei almost didn't make it through, but fortunately, its owner was well-off and managed to pull Dahei back from the brink of death.
Not long after Dahei recovered from parvovirus, he developed oral problems again. Years of being a stray and eating and chewing on things indiscriminately had caused severe tartar buildup on his teeth. He was taken to the vet to have his teeth cleaned, then three teeth were extracted, and he was hospitalized again.
Dahei is doing very well now. Its new owner has bought it many new clothes, a doghouse and bowl, canned food and meat, and everything else it needs. According to its owner, Dahei gained 6 pounds in 10 days after it first came home! More importantly, Dahei is no longer self-conscious and dares to play with other dogs.
The former owner pushed Dahei into "hell," and after suffering endless hardships, the new owner pulled Dahei back to heaven. So, do you think Dahei will still remember its former owner? Does it hate the former owner who abandoned it?
The answer may surprise you: Big Black doesn't hate its former owner; in fact, it has always missed it.
In mid-January of this year, when the owner was taking Dahei out for a walk, Dahei's former owner drove by in front of Dahei. Upon seeing Dahei, the owner stopped the car and called out to Dahei. Upon hearing the former owner's voice, Dahei instantly lost control, excitedly breaking free of the leash and running towards its former owner.
The scene made the pet owner both angry and heartbroken. She pulled hard on the leash, and in the end, the black dog failed to leap onto its former owner. Seeing the pet owner's bad expression, the former owner drove away in a huff.
After its former owner left, Dahei stood still, staring intently in the direction its former owner had gone. If its owner hadn't been holding onto the leash, Dahei might have actually gone after it.
When a dog is abandoned, it will really remember its former owner forever, and it will not hold a grudge against the former owner. On the contrary, the dog will think that it did something wrong that the owner abandoned it, and it will live with this self-blame for the rest of its life!
It may seem unbelievable, but it's true. So, abandoning your dog is not recommended. The saying "a dog doesn't care if its home is poor" is not just a saying. No matter how hard things are for its owner, as long as it's by its owner's side, the dog will feel happy!
